Privacy Policy for Skill Ball

This Privacy Policy explains what information the Skill Ball mobile app ("the app", "we", "us") collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to the practices described here.

Summary

Skill Ball is a daily high-score game with a public leaderboard. To make the leaderboard work we store your scores and an anonymous account on our servers. We do not collect your email, phone number, precise location, contacts, or photos. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not sell or share your data with anyone for their own purposes.

Information we collect

When you play, the following is sent to and stored on our backend (see "Where your data is stored" below):

Anonymous account identifier. On first launch the app creates an anonymous account, identified by a randomly generated ID. This ID is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any real-world identity. It lets us recognise the same device across sessions so your scores and achievements stay attached to you.
Display name (optional). If you choose to put a name on the leaderboard, the name you type is stored and shown publicly alongside your scores. You are free to use a nickname rather than your real name. Until you claim a name, no name is stored.
Scores and achievements. Your game scores, the date (day) each score was set, and any achievements you earn. Scores and names appear on the public leaderboard.
Device and diagnostic information. With each score we attach a small technical snapshot to help us understand performance and fix problems across different devices: device model and brand, operating system version, app version, screen size, device language/locale, and time zone. This is coarse information and does not include precise location.

We also store a small amount of data only on your device (not sent to us): your audio settings, a cached copy of your best score, and your login session token. This never leaves your phone.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

Run the daily leaderboard and keep your scores and achievements attached to your account.
Display public leaderboard standings (scores and any chosen display name).
Diagnose crashes and performance issues and improve the game across the range of devices our players use.
Detect and prevent cheating or abuse.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or cross-app tracking, and we do not run any third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

Legal basis (for users in the EU/UK)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process your data on the basis of:

Performance of a service — to provide the leaderboard you are using.
Legitimate interests — to keep the game working, secure, and free of cheating.

Sharing of your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.

Your scores and any display name you choose are public by design — they are visible to anyone using the app's leaderboard.

We use Supabase as our hosting and database provider to store the data described above on our behalf. Supabase acts as our data processor and processes data only according to our instructions.

Where your data is stored

Data is stored on servers operated by our hosting provider, Supabase, in the EU (Central EU — Frankfurt, eu-central-1) region. If you are located outside the EU, your information may be transferred to and processed there. We rely on our hosting provider's safeguards to protect data in transit and at rest.

Data retention

We keep your scores, achievements, and account for as long as your account exists. You can remove your data at any time using the controls below; when you delete your account, the associated data is permanently erased.

Your choices and rights

Delete your account and data. In the app, open Settings (the cog on the home screen) and tap Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, display name, scores, and achievements. This cannot be undone.
Delete by request. You can also email emailrobaherne@gmail.com to request deletion of your data.
Access and correction. EU/UK and California residents may have the right to access, correct, or delete their personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email above.

Because accounts are anonymous, we may be unable to identify your specific data from an email alone; deleting in-app is the most reliable way to remove it.

Children's privacy

Skill Ball is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We protect data in transit using encryption (HTTPS/TLS) and restrict database access so that each account can only read public leaderboard data and write its own scores. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to safeguard your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be reflected in the app or its store listing.
